If you can't run with the big dogs - you better stay on the porch!

I have had several conversations recently about the speculation that Direct Writers and Large Consolidating Brokers are going to make it difficult, if not impossible for a small Broker to prosper.

Banks will no longer sell online

When I heard the news that soon the banks will no longer be offering online insurance products I did feel some relief.

It bothered me to walk into the local Royal Bank and see the signs advertising insurance. The tellers were directing people to check out the online information. I do agree with the Minister Flaherty's decision that this is unacceptable.

Telecommunications theft - misappropriation

Wondering if anyone has come across a loss situation where a company has sustained considerable long-distance charges caused by an unknown third-party using their phone system. Any insurance mechanism for handling? I don't see cover under any crime or property forms. Telephone lines misappropriated could result in thousands of dollars of long-distance charges which the telephone company will certainly expect payment of, unless relationship supports them waiving.
